In 2008 the first New York City Pediatric Airway Symposium was held at Cornell. This academic event brought pediatric otolaryngologists together from around the NYC area to discuss complex airway cases, and to hear a presentation by the inaugural speaker, Dr. Brian Wiatrak.

The tradition has continued since then, meeting at different institutions on a rotating basis. The symposium is now run under the auspices of the New York City Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology.
