Side Scan Sonar Images of Local Wrecks
Ben Roberts - of Eastern Search and Survey - has been doing side-scan sonar imaging of our local wrecks for some time. Here is an article about one of the more interesting discoveries that he has participated in. His ongoing project is the building of a database of these images (currently over 50 dive sites), which you can see here on this map. Just click on a wreck, scroll to the bottom of the left column, and check out the album.
Ben is planning on doing more wrecks closer to our area in the near future. This is a project that is helpful for anyone who dives locally, or who is interested in the amazing history of the wrecks right off our shores.
