      From the foreword of Nathan’s autobiography, weritten by publisher Erhard Roy Wiehn: 

      “Double pioneering work
      Nathan Höxter was born in Berlin in 1916, his father is a field rabbi and later served in the " Beth-Zion " synagogue ; the boy grows up in a strictly religious family home with three siblings, remembers an anti-Jewish incident as early as 1921, is a good student and hears the word "Zionism" for the first time in a Jewish high school. He is 12 years old when his father dies, moves away from religious life, sees the economic need as a boy, sympathizes with the left, joins the Young Jewish Wanderbund, makes friends with Polish-Jewish children from the Berlin Scheunenviertel, sings in the choir of the "Old Synagogue", plays football in the Jewish sports club " Maccabi ""is injured and arrested at a demonstration, especially feels the growing anti-Semitism.
