- “Shirley's family history is overshadowed by her sister Freda, who has been in a wheelchair since childhood with cerebral palsy, apparently aggravated by some unwise attempts of corrective surgery as a child. As her parents became unable to care for her , Bob Pinkert, in conjunction with a Mrs Woodhouse, succeeded in convincing the State of Florida to approve a state supported home for such victims, the Woodhouse Adult Home, where Freda still resides. Freda is intelligent , finished high school, and has painted Xmas cards using a brush attached to her forehead, but her speech is barely understandable.” [1]
